Data modeling

Summary

In this course you will learn how to draw Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and use them to design and analyze your Org architecture.

ERDs are the primary tool for visualizing your desired relational database structures (like Salesforce!) or finding out inefficiencies in your current structure. ERDs are also a powerful tool in requirements gathering as they help you scope technical specifications required to support the structure.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Read and draw Entity Relationship Diagrams;
  2. Use Entity Relationship Diagrams to understand when to create record types and when to just create picklists;
  3. Use Entity Relationship Diagrams to identify unnecessary or duplicate objects;
  4. Know how to use Elements to draw ERDs
